Dealing with submission holds:
When a submission is locked in, a slider bar will appear at the top of the screen, with "Escape" and "Submit" on either side. If you are applying the hold, then tap any button as fast as possible to apply pressure and make the opponent submit. If this is being done successfully, the pointer on the slider bar will move towrds "Submit" and will likely result in a submission win. However, if you are locked in a submission and cannot escape, repeated tapping of a button will help move the pointer towards "Escape". If you manage to escape, the submission is reversed. Thus, the player who can tap a button the fastest will have an advantage. Note: There is also a point labeled "Rope". Reaching this point will allow the player locked in a submission to reach the ropes, breaking the hold, and often happens if the hold is initially applied close to the ropes. If the slider bar fails to reach one of the points after a length of time, the hold is automatically broken. The amount of time the hold will be applied for depends on your wrestler's skill with Submission moves. The best way to get a submission victory is by working on a specific body part until the damage meter displays it in red. For example, Ric Flair working the leg until the damage meter shows the leg in red, then going for the Figure Four. This would result in a definite win.
