Geez...have I gotten sick of Rap music...well I don't think I can ever call it "music" ever again...but holy crap it's gotten old!
I've seen and heard enough of 50 Cent, Ludacris, Pretty Ricky, Nelly, Eminem, The Game, Dr. Dre, P. Diddy (Now just Diddy), Fat Joe, Xzibit, Mike Jones, Chingy, and most of all Snoop Dogg...
Everything's starting to sound the same...from Pimpin' All Over the World to Drop It Like It's Hot...it's getting bland.
I wish it could go back to how it used to be, just with Tupac Shakur, Biggie, Sir Mixalot, The Beastie Boys (As they used to be), hell even Will Smith!
Yet for some strange reason, the only Rap I still even remotely like is Tech N9ne...and that's even starting to annoy me. I don't know, maybe I'm going through some phase where everyone in a 5 block radius of my house is smoking loads of Pot and I'm inhaling it constantly without knowing?
Or maybe I'm actually finally realising how much of low intelligence and kindness most of these current Rap/Hip-Hop stars have. Makin' up lyrics, only a perverted sick-minded 10 year old kid could think of. Rappin' only about how much the ladies like em', how the white man is opressin' em', how police are "pigs" because they crack down on crack users on the streets, and how much "bling" they have, but won't use a dime of it to even help those in need...
Take Hurricane Katrina for example, even before it hit, a lot of actors and musicians (mostly country singers from what I saw) were all ready to give away millions of dollars (which they earned) to help those who were in need.
I don't think anyone saw Snoop Dogg, or 50 Cent, or Chingy giving away some of their beloved "bling" or millions of dollars (most of which they haven't worked hard to earn) to help. I know I didn't, and I'll be surprised if I do, which of course will only be for their benefit, to make them look good.
This is my rant...about the current state of Rap/Hip-Hop today in America. Many of you will probably not agree with me but I don't care, I needed to vent lol.

Thats mainly because... 50 Cent, Ludacris, Pretty Ricky, Nelly, Eminem, The Game, Dr. Dre, P. Diddy (Now just Diddy), Fat Joe, Mike Jones, Chingy, and most of all Snoop Dogg... All Suck ass -- They rap about bullshit, women, cash, money, jewelry, and all that stupid useless shit. Rap needs more heart...Fucking rappers today cant ever make a song that is heartfilled and reaches out to people... We dont hear inspiration...We hear this: MOVE BITCH GET OUT THE WAY! Thats a great song! Fuck No! Tupac and Biggie Smalls..God damn man these were true heroes...These guys could do anything in their music, reach any audience, touch anyones heart, god damn thats why they are considered saints! I am with you Brad, Rap, or Rap TODAY, Blows... Although Tech does rep a lot of that senseless shit, he is also very very good in other instances, and can be very good in his music. This is all 50 Cents fault...

i gotta agree rap is starting to sound the same, but that happened when rap started, it's very rare that someone does something new with rap
so "screw rap" comes to mind
edit : just read makaveli's post... so yeah i haven't heard of basically any rapper other than the "mainstream" rap, but either way i still don't like it, one word comes to mind when i think of rap
useless, can't find anything i enjoy about it, so TO ME it is useless

Well I'm glad some people agree with me, and maybe someday rap will go back to the way it used to be, the way it was meant to be.

Most of mainstream sucks major arse, lol. I rarely listen to it anymore, I hate when a rapper cant do anything but cash, hoes, and low riders in their music.

Some of Pacs is what you hear today, but he wasnt set out to make crappy music (cough* lil john *cough). Im sure if you heard some of them you would like it, then again it might just not be your thing.

I always listen to a mixture of stuff...One day I might listen to Tupac the next maybe Jimi Hendrix...The main reason I do this is so I don't get wore out on one genre.

I'm about 50/50 about this topic. Some statements you bring up Brad are very true. Alot of the mainstream in todays time is VERY disappointing. And it's not just 50 Cent that has done it, Nelly was out before 50.
It's actually the record companies that are doing it. They are out there giving the deals to their puppets that they KNOW will make a "Club Hit" rather then something out of this world.
I will never completely turn my back on the Rap Genre because I know there are still true artists out there today that dispise the current state of the industry. Case in point, Tech N9ne.
Dude has done some completely different shit then those in the mainstream eye. Industry Is Punks, F.T.I., Twisted, This Ring, Tormented... granted, a song like Tormented deals alot with drug use, but you know what? Unlike several other artists that rap on this topic, you can feel that Tech is comeing from experience and not just trying to "make an image."
You guys can turn your backs on the Rap Genre all you want, but I will continue my support of the real artists that are trying to bring the industry back to what it was. There are several good underground artists still. You just have to turn off the radio and open your ears.
Some of you are getting a little tired of Tech? What have you been doing, just listening to Absolute Power over and over? Listen to Anghellic, that shit on there is some real deep shit.
Another artist you could check out would be Kutt Calhoun, at times, I think he might even be able to give Tech a run for his money.
Meh, that was all very useful, right? Lol. Ok, I'll shut up...
EDIT: BTW, about the Katrina deal, I believe I read somewhere that Jay-Z and Diddy gave 1 MILLION as a joint donation between the two. Also, Master P AND Juvenile, both are Rappers from New Orleans, their both heading up drives for the relief fund. So you need to check your facts when you make it out like ALL rappers are doing nothing.
Where are all the multi-million dollar football, baseball and basketball players at? Why are you not questioning that? So please, next time, DO NOT just attack just one catagory of celebrities like that when there are many more that you could question.
EDIT 2: And another thing, J-Prince. Owner of Rap-A-Lot Records has opened up a big Boxing Center that he owns for people coming out of the N.O. that have lost their homes and everything else. So again, CHECK YOUR FACTS!
EDIT 3: Man, now that a reread that, it comes off a bit harsh then I would normally reply... I musr have been in a bad mood at the time I posted this, oi. Sorry if it comes off a bit rude or whatever... but still

Lol don't worry about Kain, I can understand. I knew that at least some rap artists would help out with the hurricane damage, I just didn't expect a lot of them to jump up and give loads of money right away.
I agree with the basketball, football, baseball, etc, players who do the same thing...but this subject was about rap artists today, so I wasn't including athletes, nor was I saying somewhat of an "All Rappers Are Insensitive Millionaires".
I don't even know why I brought up Hurricane Katrina because that was completeley off topic and I apologize for that...this was just meant to vent about how much I think MOST rap today has strayed away from what it was supposed to be.
In no way did I consider that rude, Kain, lol don't worry about it, your opinions and comments are appreciated, because I mean the Sports/Entertainment section without your's and Maka's outspoken opinions would be nothing.
Also, I'm in no way turning my back on rap music, I'm just gonna listen to the radio less, watch MTV, VH1, etc. less, and just go back to the good ol' days of hip-hop/rap and listen to some Tupac, Biggie Smalls, etc., you know, good stuff like that.
I would hope that one day, things could go back to that, and rap music could be less about, drugs, money, women, cars, racism, murder, rape, and alchohal...and more about reaching out to people with a firm message.

I was waiting for Kain to come in and plug Tecca Nina...Nobody does it like he does, ;D Hey, that's what I do, isn't it? And yes, LengendKillerDAK, your entitled to your opinion... but you should not just come in and bash, explain your reasoning as then it would be acceptable but what you did is not, like Maka said.
