Xbox 360 Japanese Launch Schedule MS plans commercials, events and in-store displays overseas. by Anoop Gantayat October 20, 2005 - Microsoft Japan is gearing up for the Japanese release of Xbox 360, which will follow the US release by a couple of weeks. Leading up to the December 10 release day, Japanese audiences will be exposed to MS's next generation box through a variety of channels, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals.
The big push for Xbox 360 begins on the first of November. In addition to the opening of the Xbox 360 Lounge in Tokyo's Omotesando shopping district, Microsoft will also begin airing commercials for the system on that day. Microsoft plans on showing lots of game footage and also passing along the message of the functionality the Xbox 360 offers. Xbox 360 will begin its retail presence later that month. Starting November 20, retailers will take delivery of some 2000 Xbox 360 demo units. These will feature a 23-inch high definition screen.
Microsoft will also be showing off the 360 at a number of upcoming events. The WPC Expo 2005 (10/26 to 10/29 at Tokyo Big Site) is, from what we've heard, set to see some big Xbox 360 news. Xbox 360 will also appear at Human Festa 2005 (10/30 at Human Academy in Fukuoka), Game Japan Festa 2005 in Osaka (11/12 and 11/13), Design Festa vol. 22 (11/26 at Tokyo Big Site) and Jump Festa 2006 (12/17 and 12/18 in Makuhari).
IGN will be sure to keep you up to date on Microsoft's attempts at making a splash in Japan.
