Tip 1 - ALWAYS use a consitant colour scheme.
Nver bash or over load a cover with colours that dont merge or blend well together. Find 1 main colour and add shades to it. Wez is a good example for this, he tends to stick to one colour and add shades and tones to it to give it more depth and make it stand out. Adding blues reds and yellows wont work as they dont mix well together and totally put off any reviewer who sees your cover.
TIP 2 - ALWAYS keep to a layout or structure.
Keep to a layout with your covers. Dont mish mash all types of things together without having a sense of flow to them. Granted the back and front can have 2 different layouts as long as they flow through the spine. In this sense the spine is the key to a good cover. It brings both front and back together and allows them to flow into each other. As long as the style remains constant all through the cover the front and back have no need to match.
BE AWARE THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS USE 1 LAYOUT FOR THE FRONT AND ONE FOR THE BACK DONT MIX AND MATCH.
TIP 3 - Keep to one style
If you are creating a cover surely the WWE's themes are a good place to begin. Well yes and no cos they suck, but when your starting out stick to what you know and dont go crazy with your own thing. Practice makes perfect.
Make sure that you use one style all the way through the cover and dont add 2 together.
TIP 4 - Keep up to date
Use current psd's of wrestlers and not a 2002 orton when were in (knock knock) 2005. How shit does that look, and how lazy must you be to not go searching for new cuts and pics.
TIP 5 - Use 1 or 2 type of blending
no more than 2 types of blending should be used as once again it mahses up the cover and loses the flow needed to pull a good cover off. If you are blending make sure its good and that the faces are clear and easy to make out. Never blend 2 wrestlers into each other using transparency IT SUCKS. IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>HUE/SATURATION. Using this you can change the colour of your superstar to match the background and keep a colour scheme and flow going.
TIP 6 - USE PHOTOSHOP 7 OR CS.
NO I WONT SEND IT YOU, NO I DONT KNOW WHERE TO DL IT.
ATM thats all i can think of right now my brain hurts. If any other pros would like to contributs post it in here and ill add it to the thread
Hope this helps to keep the cover makers growing
