Hey Yo. I just registered off the GameFaqs board. I am Christmas Hobgoblin there.. I wish we could change our own names there, but whatcha gonna do.
I figured i'd come here for my hacking curiousity. The assclowns at GameFaqs are very hostile.

Hey, Zodiac. Thanks for joining.
I understand what you mean about GameFAQs. The HCTP board there contains nothin' but flamers & trolls.
I'm sure you'll like it here. We'll have all the latest codes for HCTP, as you asked at GameFAQs, for AR2/GS2v2 (NTSC), AR2/GS2v2 (PAL), CB2v1 - CB2v6, GS2v3 & Xploder (& AR2 MAX [NTSC] & AR2 MAX [PAL] when a converter is available).
Too, since you're a member, you will be able to view the codes for HCTP once they start rollin' in.
In any case, be careful when on GameFAQs (if that's possible in the HCTP board), &, again, thanks for joining.

Heh, yeah. I knew some people were gonna give smartass answers.. But I figured the real answers would outnumber the dumbasses. I've been there for a while, but don't post much.. Been goin to GameFaqs for a long azz time, like 98 or 99, whenever Resident Evil 2 came out.. but finally registered last year when I wanted to trade stuff in Animal Crossing ;D
So you say to go with Action Replay 2 or Game Shark 2.2? I think both are the same price, or around each other.
How do they work anyway? Does it go in the Memory card slot, then you put your Memory card into that?

To use basically any cheat-device for PS2, you use what is called a boot-up disc. You turn on the PS2 & then use the boot-up disc. The disc brings up a GUI interface that allows you to select what game codes you want to use. Too, you can create new game names in the GUI & add codes. Too, for GameShark 2 version 2 & below, a dongle is used; it's basically a cheap version of a PS2 memory card that's shaped differently, usually having the GS logo on its topside. (As for the newer versions of Action Replay 2, I don't know if they use a dongle or not?) The dongle is always used in memory card slot 1 or slot 2. (Either of the two doesn't matter.) Too, it should be in a memory card slot before using the boot-up disc. It's main purpose is to house saved codes. Saved games can't be saved on it. Once you have selected any codes, you will be asked by the GUI to insert the game for the codes. After ejecting the boot-up disc & inserting the game, you usually press a button to confim that the game is ready. Once the copyrights or a FMV or anything that is part of the actual games begins to play, you take out the dongle from the memory card slot & enter the memory card. Too, you could leave the dongle in memory card slot 2 & a memory card slot 1, having to take out neither when beginning the game. As hinted above, however, I'm not quite sure if the newer versions of Action Replay 2 use a dongle. If no, then the the newer Action Replay 2 would work almost like a CodeBreaker 2.
A CodeBreaker 2 (my favorite) uses no dongle. You do the same as above with a boot-up disc, but all saved codes are put on a save-block on a PS2 memory card. It causes a lot less hassle, since a dongle is required for the boot-up process for GameShark 2 version 2. Without it, codes can't be activated. Too, as said before, dongles are cheaply-made memory cards, & their estimated lifespan is about one & a half years.

Cool. I'll look into getting a Code Breaker, then.

The Action Replay 2 uses a dongle that has an extra 8mb memory card built in and if i remember right from what i have read the Action Replay 2 and Gameshark 2.2 are basicly the same thing so it wouldn't matter which was brought
