Tony Hawk Wastes Stores Series latest American Wasteland is now skating to retail. by David Adams October 18, 2005 - As fast as you can skate, run, or bike, you can't match the power of Activision and Neversoft's Tony Hawk franchise, still going strong after five years. Today, Activision ships Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, the latest and possibly most ambitious entry in the series.
Set in the "skate mecca" of Los Angeles, American Wasteland adds new tricks, new controls, a full storyline, and online multiplayer (for PlayStation 2 and Xbox). For the first time, players can skate across the entire game world continuously, without load screens or level changes. You'll have to use your new freedom, plus classic and new moves -- bert slides, stalls, Natas spins handstands, one-footed grinds and manuals, wall runs, wall flips, board smacks and board throws -- to prove yourself to the top skaters in L.A.
"Tony Hawk's American Wasteland is a major step forward for the brand," said Activision's Will Kassoy. "For the first time ever, players have the freedom to experience continuous action through an immersive and humorous storyline inspired by the roots of the sport."
The latest Tony Hawk is now available for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. An Xbox 360 version is due in November. The game is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB. Credit: IGN
