NOTE 1: This is how I made my status card originally, I'm not sure how Gabriel & Chainz made theirs'.
NOTE 2: Only include programs on the status card you have on your computer, don't copy anyone else's status cards please.
1) Open up Photoshop, go to File, New and use these settings:
2) Press Shift+F5 and choose what colour to fill the layer in with; e.g. I've chosen a red colour below:
3) Go to Layer, Layer Style & then click on Bevel & Emboss & apply these settings, then click on OK:
It should come out like this:
4) Now download this pattern. Open it in Photoshop and go to Edit, Define Pattern and name it whatever you want, then close it. Go back onto the status card we're making and then right click this tool icon and choose "Paint Bucket Tool":
5) Make a new layer on the status card by going to Layer, New, Layer and click on OK. Now with the Paint Bucket Tool selected, click next to Fill on the 2nd top bar to bring down the drop list menu, and select Pattern, then next to that, choose the new pattern you recently downloaded. Then, with the new layer we just created selected, click on the status card image. This will fill the layer with diagonal lines, and should appear like this:
6) Now reduce the Opacity of Layer 2 down to 13%, as shown below:
7) Now go to Layer, and click on (at the bottom of the list) Merge Visible.
Now, you have to decide how many programs which you have that you're going to include on the list; e.g. on mine I have 8, and let's say you also are going to have 8, you then go to Image, Canvas Size, change the dimensions format from cm to pixels, multiply the height by 8, so 8 x 18 = 144, so you change the size of the height to 144, BUT, you must also include the gaps in between each program bar (I had a 2 pixel gap between each one on my old status card), so also do 2 x 7 (it's one less for the gaps, so instead of being 8 like before, it'll be 7 for this) = 14, so 144 + 14 = 158, so change the height to 158 pixels. Bit complicated this bit, I know.
8) Move the status bar all the way to the top (make sure it doesn't go out of view at all), then make 7 duplicates of this layer (if you're going to have 8 programs on the list that is), by going to Layer, Duplicate Layer and clicking on OK seven times. Move each duplicated layer down, leaving a 2 pixel gap between each one, until it reaches the bottom, so you'll get this:
9) Make another new layer by going to Layer, New, Layer and then move this below all other layers. Make sure this new empty layer is selected and go to Edit, Fill and fill the layer with black (should be the foreground/background colour anyway). Doing this will fill the gaps in between the status card bars with black.
10) Now, time to change the colour of the other status card bars. On each status bar layer (except the top bar layer), press Ctrl+B and/or Ctrl+U, mess around with the settings until you get a colour you like. This is what I am came up with:
11) Time to add text to the status bars. I used this font. To make things easier, go to Layer, Flatten Image. Now, select the Text tool ( ) and choose the new font you downloaded & (should've) installed, make sure the font size is set to 14, and that the anti-aliasing method is set to None, and type the name of the program (all in CAPITALs) on the top bar, plus with USER written on the end of it (this goes for all programs you include). Then with the new text layer selected, go to Layer, Layer Style, Color Overlay (this is only if the text isn't white already, if it is, select & skip to Stroke instead). Change the colour overlay to white (FFFFFF), click on Stroke at the bottom, then reduce the stroke size from 3px to 1px, then change the colour of the stroke to black (000000). Keep repeating on each bar until you have all programs listed on it like this:
12) Now go to File, Save or Save-as, then type in what you want to save it's file name as, then choose the image format (PNG works best) you want to save it as, then Save.
And your done!
Congratulations! You just created your first real status card.
